Education
The field of Conflict Resolution as a discipline and practice is relatively new in India. The Intervention methods MCD uses, while common in other parts of the world, are not yet widely known or applied to disputes that touch the lives of Indian people. Through our Education initiatives, MCD works to enhance the Indian population’s awareness of and ability to use constructive methods of handling conflict.
Our core Education initiatives include:
Corps of Community Mediators
We offer a 3-level certification program to individuals interested in becoming trained mediators. Our goal is to create a corps of community mediators skilled in helping individuals resolve personal and civil disputes outside of court. Our uniquely designed mediator certification program includes:
- A 40-hour Basic Mediation Course
- A 60-hour Apprenticeship Program
- A 24-hour Advanced Mediation Course

School Peer Mediation
We provide mediation and dispute resolution training to high school and university students, equipping them to resolve disputes among their peers. We also assist school administrators and teachers to institute peer mediation programs in their schools and colleges. Peer mediation teaches students non-adversarial alternatives for handling interpersonal conflicts. The strategy prevents minor incidents from escalating and reduces the need for authoritative disciplinary action.
